About Me

In case you don’t already know me, I’m Beth Schillaci, owner of VillageWorks Communications, and in my almost 20 years in business, I feel like I can sum things up as Been There, Done That. I have won awards, presented in front of more people than I can count and even wrote a book, but one thing has not changed – I love working with businesses to help them build their empires. Instead of running through my resume, let me give you a little insight into who I am.

I am a Geek.

I love technology and especially what it can do for businesses. I began working for a software company straight out of college and ended up learning first-hand about the Internet while working at Netscape Communications. I learned how technology can be leveraged by small companies to level the playing field and it is amazing how that is even more true today. Technology can be intimidating to some people, and I love to take that intimidation away by showing them how to use the technology on their own terms. I understand geek speak, but I don’t use it when talking to my customers unless absolutely necessary.

I am a Maker.

About 4 years ago, I started a soap business with my daughter who was 7 at the time, and now have launched a candle line. Being a hand-crafted maker has been an amazing experience and has made me a better marketing professional. If you make and sell your own products, I totally get where you are coming from. You have different marketing needs than service companies and I have your back.

I am a Teacher.

I love to teach and coach people. I have presented to groups large and small with all different types of backgrounds. Showing them how to tame technology to grow their business is very rewarding. I wanted to help people that I couldn’t get to locally, so I wrote a book 7 years ago called Your Social Media Roadmap. It is still used by instructors today to teach their students about social media planning.

I am a Wife and Mom.

I have been married to my best friend for 19 years and we have an 13 year old daughter and 6 year old black lab. They are the best support any business owner could ask for and I love hanging out with them whenever we have time. We are Disney fans and try to get there every year on vacation. This is why you will see me reference Disney often throughout my writing and training.

Now you know a little more about me, so I wanted to share part of my Belief Statement so you can better understand what drives me and my business.

I Believe:

You (no one else) define what success means to you.

Marketing isn’t rocket science. Seriously, it isn’t.

Shiny object syndrome is bad for business

Taking the road less traveled is more rewarding.

No idea is crazy. Just look at Walt Disney

Mistakes and failures suck, but make great learning experiences.

Haters going to hate and possibly motivate.

The best marketing plans are often written on one sheet of paper or a napkin.

An accountability partner and peer group are invaluable in achieving your goals.
